Charging USB devices while boondocking

Using several 120 volt to USB adapters is inefficient due to the conversion loss when running off our inverter. Anytime you are running off your house batteries you want every amp hour to count by keeping your conversion losses to a minimum. We installed a few options that give us the USB ports we need to charge our devices that run directly off the 12 volt batteries.

The first install we made was a dual USB/digital volt meter, since we have only one slide out the blank for glide room 2 was perfect. The wiring was simple since 12 volt was already available to tap into behind the control panel.

The next installs were these dual USB ports on each side of the bed. These allow us to recharge our devices and run a USB powered fan to circulate air at night. The wiring was done in the basement storage area under the front of our trailer. Please leave your comments and questions below. And if you would like to purchase either of these items just click the links below, it will not cost you anything extra and we will make a few cents off your purchase. Happy boondocking!
