We looked a several options for transporting our bicycles, the most common is the 2″ receiver mount for the rear bumper. While the rear bumper on our Keystone Passport appears to be securely mounted there are way to many horror photos online of bumper failure due to adding bicycle racks. We settled on a solid and secure rack mount that mounts on the front of our trailer.
Our bicycle rack itself is quite old and at the time of this writing needs some fresh paint, it still works like it should. The rack mount is the bunk model made by Stromberg Carlson, and it is rock solid. It sits the bikes up high where there are no issues with it clearing the bed of our 3/4 ton Dodge. They do sit a little high for unloading but you could take the bikes off standing in the bed of the truck or if your using a newer style fold down rack there would be no issue. If you are looking for a solid way to haul you bicycles out of the way this in our opinion is the way to do it. if you would like to get one of these for your travel trailer just click the amazon link below, it will not cost you extra and we will make a few cents and your bikes will be ready to travel.
