For those of you who follow our quilt trail excursions, remember the Swain County Trail? Well, they have added a quilt square. If you’re heading to the one at Deep Creek, you will see it along the way. It’s called “Diane’s Passion” and it’s on the Brigham Law at 300 Everett Street.
We also took pictures of 3 quilt squares in Macon County in Franklin, NC. They are all roughly in the same area, little back roads in the Cowee Community. One is on a historic church. One is on an old General Store. We don’t think it’s actually a store anymore, but a museum. And the final one we took pictures of that day was on the Cowee School. If you are looking to go to the Cowee Ruby Mines, (near Rickman Creek and Matlock Creek Roads) you will see these 3 squares. We wish we could tell you their names, but the website for Macon County Quilt Trail is no longer online. We have inquired with the WNC Quilt Trail website for information on this, but have not heard back yet. We know there are many squares in Franklin and we hope to update you as soon as we can. But if you’re in the country for a drive and some Ruby mining, you can’t miss these.
If anyone has pictures and names of Macon County’s quilt squares, please let us know. Also, feel free to comment with any of your quilt trail adventures! Thank you for sharing.
